10 Ways to Misspell Dish Network

It’s common these days to see a typo here and there. An error in an article, blog post, website and more commonly on social media.

Even when you search the internet you can commonly make the mistake of a spelling error and end up on a site you never intended to go to.

Dish Network certainly has seen it’s fair share of misspellings of their brand name over the years, so we decided to have a little fun and provide a list of the 10 most common Dish Network mispellings.

  • dish net work – Yes, sometimes folks do put a space between “net” and “work”
  • dish networks - I’ve made this mistake myself, merely a slip up during fast keyboarding…right?
  • dish netwrok – This is more common than you would think. When you’re typing fast amazing things can happen
  • dishnet work – DishNet is pretty awesome, just for the record.
  • dish netowrk - It would be funny to hear someone try to pronounce this. Care to give it a shot?
  • dish networ – We understand the excitement in getting to our site as fast as humanly possible.
  • dish netwok – Netwok or Ewok? Maybe someone was looking for Star Wars on Dish Network?
  • disch – Yikes, where did that come from?
  • dish networl – We get it, the “L” and the “K” are right next to one another.
  • disnetwork – A DisNetwork sounds like one constant Comedy Central Roast

Few things are as entertaining as brand misspellings. As I said earlier in this post, it can be funny (and at times scary) where you end up when misspelling a brand name in an internet search.

It was fun to look at these examples and poke a little fun. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed doing the research and writing this.

Until next time folks! Enjoy your day and Go Dish!

When you think of hockey in the United States usually the first thing that comes to mind is the National Hockey League, otherwise known as the NHL. But this year’s Olympics in Sochi are making the United States and the rest of the world take notice.

Women’s Hockey is making waves.

The U.S. women’s hockey team was defeated by Finland at Four Nations Cup. a few months ago. But the US and Finland would meet again this past weekend and the game would have a much different result.

The United States would defeat Finland 3-1 to open the women’s hockey tournament this past Saturday at the Sochi Olympics. The victory was an impressive statement from the United States squad and surely provided them the momentum needed to find success in Olympic play.

The Americans then moved on to play Switzerland on Monday for a chance to clinch a spot in the semifinals. The result was a rout of the Swiss team, in a 9-0 blowout.

Winning Faceoffs, great defense, great goal play and and offensive display that has constantly lit up the goal lights is powering the United States Women’s Hockey team.

The Americans will matchup with Canada next, two of the favorites squaring off. It should be a tremendous game pitting two of the world’s best squad against one another.

Make sure to check out the Women’s Olympic Hockey team on their official website and be sure to tune into the Sochi Olympics.

Dish allows you to watch a the games easily a number of ways so make sure you are prepared for all the Olympic action with Dish! Don’t miss a single second of action!

Who Will Take the Lombardi Trophy? Denver or Seattle?

It’s on the horizon. The day that every NFL fan has been waiting for.

The Super Bowl.

The Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks clash in Super Bowl 48, which will be played in cold weather.

So how will this break down? Who will come out on top? Who will walk away as Super Bowl Champions?

How Seattle Will Win

Their defense is Championship caliber and regardless of how you feel about Richard Sherman’s antics he is arguably one of the Top 2 corners in the league.

With Seattle it all comes down to ball control. The keys to their victory will be limiting the Broncos’ scoring opportunities with stout defense and controlling the clock with a strong running game behind Marshawn Lynch.

The other key factor is not turning the ball over. The Seattle offense has been unimpressive in the playoffs so it’s vital they do not create additional opportunities for Denver, doing so will eventually tire out Seattle’s defense and leave more on the shoulders of the Seahawks’ offense.

How Denver Will Win

There is no one in the NFL, at any position, that prepares like Peyton Manning. He knows the ins and outs of Seattle’s defense by this point and he’s motivated to cap off his record-setting season with a 2nd Super Bowl ring.

Utilizing weapons like Welker, Decker, both of the Thomas’ and Moreno in the passing game will keep the Seahawks off balance. Moreno must be able to have an impact on the ground to keep Seattle’s D honest.

If Denver can put up points early it will put a lot more pressure on Seattle’s offense to keep pace. Needless to say Seattle’s offense has been a little underwhelming in recent weeks.

The biggest key for Denver is their defense. Which unit will show up? Denver has shown the ability to be stout and has also shown that they can be lit up as well. Denver fans should hope the stout unit shows up on Sunday

If Denver can force some early 3-and-outs, cash in on some scoring opportunities and put the pressure on Seattle, they may walk away the Super Bowl Champions.

Dish Movies: Carrie (2013)

I recently sat down and took in the remake to Carrie (1976). The original starred Sissy Spacek as Carrie White, a shy, socially awkward teenager who is under the constant torment and bullying from her small-town high school.

The original remains a classic to this day and is considered one of Stephen King’s best.

The remake in 2013 packed a powerful cast including Julianne Moore and Chloë Grace Moretz. With two solid leads, this movie promised to be worth watching.

In all honesty, i wasn’t a huge fan of the original. I do like it, but i found Spacek to be rather dull in her role. She played the soft spoken, shy Carrie well but I found most of her 2nd half performance rather boring.

carrie-poster-fullbloodybody-fullThis movie had the makeup to be memorable with plenty of references to the original, even going as far to recite popular lines from the 1976 version word-for-word.

Julianne Moore was very good as Carrie’s crazy-mother but as good as Moore was she didn’t capture the essence of the role the way that Piper Laurie did in the original. Laurie put on a performance that may be impossible to top.

While the stars aligned for this movie, or seemed to, the movie had one flaw that was impossible to overcome; Poor writing.

It was perplexing how the movie seemed to go to tremendous lengths to pay homage to the original, stay on point with the story and put Moore and Moretz in roles where they could shine. But when it came to the writing and flow of the movie it seemed lazy and amateur.

Carrie’s supernatural ability bothered me throughout the film. It seemed rushed, over-stated and (as weird as it sounds) had no realistic feel. The new version of Carrie could apparently do anything you could think of, even before learning how to control her powers. It was indicated rapidly throughout the movie as soon as the first scene played.

It almost seemed the writers were too consumed with squeezing as many super-natural moments in the movie as they possibly could. It took away any special feeling or shock value her powers had.

The original Carrie showed a gradual progression of her powers and a true storyline of Carrie learning about her powers and how to use them. Something this version seemingly had no interest in doing.

As good as Chloë Grace Moretz was in this movie, the film did her no favors. I found it odd that the movie assumed that straightening Moretz’s hair or simply styling it so it covered parts of her face would make her seem like the “awkward looking outcast“. Moretz looked no different from her classmates and I had trouble figuring out why they picked on her or why it was so outrageous to think anyone would ask her on a date. It made it hard for the audience to distinguish or visually separate Carrie from the popular crowd. She looked like she fit in & belonged, not the outcast that the story indicates she is.

Had they made her hair look greasy, maybe some facial blemishes and added some really homely clothing it would have gone a long way of driving sympathy for Carrie.

I would give this movie 1 1/2 out of 5 stars. But don’t just take my word for it, you can easily rent it on Dish and judge for yourself

2014 Royal Rumble Recap

The 2014 WWE Royal Rumble was one of this week’s most anticipated events in the world of sports and sports entertainment. Amid the constant rumors and annual WrestleMania chatter the Rumble is often the perfect catapult down the road to WrestleMania.

So how did the Rumble shape up?

Daniel Bryan vs Bray Wyatt

As I predicted, this match stole the show and set the tone for the entire night. Unfortunately this match was put on first which made it impossible for anyone to follow it.

Wyatt really shined in this bout and Bryan’s popularity seems to climb to new heights each event.

This match was 5 star quality and the crowd (which was amazing all night) loved every minute of it.

Brock Lesnar vs Big Show

This match was supposed to make Lesnar look dominant, but the way it was executed made him look anything but. Had this been a destruction in the ring, during the match, than the goal would have been accomplished, but the booking was awful and zapped the energy right out of the crowd.

John Cena vs Randy Orton

Fans were tired of this match before it even started and they made their voices heard by chanting “boring” and “this is awful” throughout it’s duration.

Orton picking up the win does little for Mania as I don’t feel Batista vs Orton is very appealing. But if somehow Daniel Bryan can get involved in this match than that makes the Mania main event worth watching.

The best thing that came out of this match was the Wyatt Family attacking Cena at the end setting up Bray Wyatt vs John Cena for WrestleMania 30.

The Rumble Match

This should have been the most exciting part of the card and one of the most exciting Rumble matches in recent years, but WWE fans seemed overwhelmingly disappointed.

CM Punk’s entrance at #1 and path to the Final Four was largely ignored by commentary. It should have been made to feel special.

Instead of Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Daniel Bryan, Chris Jericho or Rob Van Dam, WWE fans got El Torito, Great Khali and a 3 second entry by JBL. Kevin Nash is always a cool entry (one of the very few I called)

Roman Reigns was impressive and built correctly. They also did a good job creating a rift within the Shield. But nothing else resonated and WWE fans booed the lat 10 entrants out of the building.

No shock in Batista winning.

Final Take

If the idea from WWE is to build excitement and interest in the launch of the WWE Network and Wrestlemania 30 they failed miserably with this dud.

Fans were visibly upset, both in the crowd and on social media.

Now this could all change tonight on RAW on USA Network and maybe WWE creative has something planned, but i believe a lot of fans lost faith.

What did you think?

Royal Rumble Surprise Entrant Predictions

The Royal Rumble is the official kickoff to what is referred to as WWE’s “Wrestlemania season” which, this year, will culminate at Wrestlemania XXX in New Orleans. But the Rumble is not only the annual kickoff for the biggest event in Sports Entertainment/Professional Wrestling, it also is our annual trip down Pro-Wrestling memory lane.

The Rumble has been known to reveal some surprise entrants in it’s 30-person over-the-top-rope competition and each year fans clamor and speculate on who those mystery participants will be.

A few weeks ago we saw legends such as Jake “The Snake” Roberts surprise with his appearance on Monday Night RAW’s “Old School” episode on USA Network. But few things top the anticipation and excitement that the Royal Rumble provides.

Here are my predictions for this year’s surprise entrants

Every year rumors circulate that Sting will join the WWE and go on to give the fans what they want; a match against the Undertaker at Wrestlemania..

This year in particular many are believing that Sting will finally join the WWE ranks. Various reports have stated that the WWE already has plans in place for Sting and that it is believed he will finally show up on WWE TV.

There is no better place to set the tone and build the hype for Sting than the Royal Rumble.

Rob Van Dam

Van Dam entering the Royal Rumble hasn’t been discussed as heavily due to the attention the Sting/WWE story has been garnering, but this one makes perfect sense.

Van Dam had a good run during his return to WWE in 2013 and he seems to prefer a more lax schedule nowadays, something the WWE has apparently been catering to.

After an absence of several months, now seems the best time to bring RVD back to the WWE, just in time for Wrestlemania season

Jake “The Snake” Roberts

As I mentioned earlier, Roberts was reintroduced to the WWE Universe on Monday Night RAW a few weeks ago. Those who know Roberts’ journey, know how important that moment was to him.

Anyone who has watched professional wrestling during the 80s-90s knows the importance of and the impact Roberts had on the industry. He has publicly lobbied to appear in the Rumble and many people, myself included, believe he deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame.

Both of those things could likely happen this year.

Ultimate Warrior

Warrior was announced as the first of the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame class at a recent Monday Night RAW.

Warrior and WWE built a bridge and after many years of being engaged in a bitter grudge, seem to be getting along quite well.

Warrior is in great shape and it’s feasible he could make a brief appearance at this year’s Rumble.

Chris Jericho

Jericho seems to make an annual return to WWE after a 6-7 month hiatus. But the great thing about Jericho is every time he returns, it feels special.

It’s always good to see Jericho return simply because his match quality hasn’t seemed to drop off one bit.

If Jericho is to be factored into Wrestlemania 30 than the Rumble seems like the best time to bring him back

The Undertaker

Well it wouldn’t make too much sense to put Sting on this list and exclude the Undertaker. Having the Undertaker enter the Rumble and get close to winning only to have Sting either enter the Rumble as a participant or make a distraction/interference to cost Taker the match would be the perfect setup for a Mania showdown.

But, it’s certainly not a necessity for Taker to be involved in the Rumble if Sting is. They could still build a strong interest in the dream match without anything happening at the Rumble.

Undertaker is a wild card at this point, but it would be a great storyline setup for a feud with the Stinger.

When Kharma first burst onto the scene in WWE her presence was undeniable. Physically imposing, powerful and devious, Kharma stormed through the Divas division.

But due to circumstances the WWE released Kharma.

Since then Kharma has gotten herself into tremendous shape and seems poised for a WWE return. It certainly would be a big surprise and a perfect villain for Divas Champion Aj Lee to feud with at Mania

This is my bold prediction and should be noted as a longshot or close to impossible but this would make sense.

Kevin Nash has already surprised the WWE universe a few years ago when he entered as Diesel. But he was known in the NWO as Kevin Nash, so hypothetically his return could still be fresh.

Hulk Hogan is already slotted to be involved with Wrestlemania 30 and while i believe we will see the All-American version of the Hulkster, introducing him as Hollywood Hogan can setup a few months of storyline where he eventually turns (back to his All-American version), just in time for Mania.

Scott Hall has had numerous issues over the years, but has finally seemed to have turned his life around. His sobriety has been noted and while he doesn’t have the recent history of Jake Roberts does, he could very well make an appearance at the Rumble.

It’s a foregone conclusion that the NWO will one day be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a group and adding them to the mix could make the 2014 class even more special.

The NWO could interfere or just show up. Imagine a face-off with the Shield?

Matthew McConaughey & Woody Harrelson Shining in HBO’s True Detective

Photo: Jim Bridges/HBO

Photo: Jim Bridges/HBO

In the past decade or so, HBO has really excelled in creating original series. From Sopranos to True Blood and from Boardwalk Empire to Game of Thrones, HBO has been impressing many with the shows it airs.

One of the latest shows to join the stellar lineup of HBO Original Series is True Detective, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as two Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division homicide detectives who are on an intense hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana. The story spans over a 17 year timeline.

True Detective has been well-received becoming HBO’s highest-rated new series since Boardwalk Empire.

While Harrelson and McConaughey have been strong in their roles it’s McConaughey’s portrayal of the tortured but intelligent Detective Rustin “Rus” Cohle that has seemingly resonated with the audience.

Just as McConaughey has received praise for his performance so has Harrelson who plays the more straight-laced Southern-born Martin Hart.

True Detective is slated for 8 episodes this season and according to interviews with creator Nic Pizzolatto, the series may end up mirroring the structure of American Horror Story, where the characters and even the story change from season to season.

Pizzolatto, in a recent interview featured on NOLA.com went on to say this about the future of the series:

“There could be a season that’s much more of a widespread conspiracy thriller, a season that’s a small town murder mystery, a season where nobody is murdered and it’s a master criminal versus a rogue detective or something,” he said. “Even the title, ‘True Detective,’ is meant to be, of course, purposefully somewhat generic. … The word ‘true’ can also mean honorable and authentic and things like that.

“All the previous incarnations of anything titled ‘True Detective’ was an anthology, right? So as long as there is some crime in there, I think the series format can approach it. I mean, theoretically you could tell Faulkner’s ‘Absalom, Absalom!’ as a season of ‘True Detective’ because it’s told as a mystery story.”

True Detective is certainly garnering a lot of attention. Make sure you catch it on HBO
